In the dense and chaotic construction landscape of District One, contemporary buildings strive to create distinction and quality through playful terraces, greenery, and green roofs, or by modifying the upper floors’ structure to produce units with increased ceiling heights and varied interior levels.

The Bookan Residential Building, located at the threshold between the city and the mountain, is positioned in such a way that the mountain dominates the building, and the building in turn dominates the city. This creates two distinct views and atmospheres accessible from all floors for the residents.

In response to this key characteristic, three-story units were designed with intermediate openings around a central circulation core, framing views of both the city and the mountain at varying levels for every unit. These villa-like homes are stacked vertically, each with independent entrances leading to courtyards facing the mountain.

As a boundary between two contrasting characters, the project seeks to avoid internal complexity; instead, it responds to the differing northern and southern contexts by adopting a calm and understated facade that harmonizes quietly with its surroundings.
